CEdu 530 - Blog Entry 3

So far, if I had to take away only one thing from the class so far, is that presentations (good ones, that is) require a vested amount of sincere emotional attachment to the subject matter of that presentation.  Be it a story or a power point, the presenter's emotion needs to be at the forefront.  I don't recall anyone telling me about how amazing a lecture was given by a dispassionate person.  Of course, I'm overly simplifying a course of many things into one little bit.  But for me, that's what is, well, sticky.

  1. I agree that some amount of emotion is necessary. You need to make your audience see that you believe in your topic. It adds credibility to your message. The more lively the presenter the more sticky the presentation. I know for myself it is a combination of that plus the visuals. Words or images work for me. I guess that is why presenting is such a tricky proposition, there isn't a one size fits all that works.

  2. I also agree wholeheartedly about including a sense of emotion in presentations. Those are definitely the presentations that stick out in my mind as being the "good" ones. I think it is difficult to get include emotion in all presentations because they don't all hit home or I don't have a huge vested interest in them all. It will be fun making presentations and getting my emotion across from now on.
